The event saw 16 teams competing for a $1.05m (~\u00a3823,022) prize pool and points contributing to the Club competition, which featured a further $20m (~\u00a315.6m) in prize money.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf5eff58168\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>It&#8217;s unclear if the competition will form part of the 2025 <a href=https://esportsinsider.com/"https:////esportsinsider.com//2024//11//overwatch-2-unveils-new-format-for-owcs-2025/" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2024\/11\/overwatch-2-unveils-new-format-for-owcs-2025\">Overwatch Champions Series<\/a>, Overwatch 2&#8217;s esports ecosystem operated by tournament organiser and Esports World Cup partner <strong>ESL FACEIT Group<\/strong>. 2025 will be the second year of the circuit, which now includes a promotion and relegation structure to provide teams in the FACEIT League with opportunities to enter the regular season.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf5eff5897f\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>Overwatch 2 is the 12th title featured at the 2025 Esports World Cup. It joins <a href=https://esportsinsider.com/"https:////esportsinsider.com//2024//12//eafc-esports-world-cup-2025/" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"160965\">EAFC 25<\/a>, <a href=https://esportsinsider.com/"https:////esportsinsider.com//2024//11//call-of-duty-warzone-esports-world-cup-2025/" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"160106\">Call of Duty: Warzone<\/a>, <a href=https://esportsinsider.com/"https:////esportsinsider.com//2024//11//free-fire-esports-world-cup-2025/" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"160263\">Free Fire<\/a>, and more on its growing roster of tournaments with more likely to be announced soon.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf5eff590ec\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>Outside of announcing games appearing at the Esports World Cup, the Esports World Cup Foundation continues to invest in the project. This month, the organiser of the event <a href=https://esportsinsider.com/"https:////esportsinsider.com//2024//12//esports-world-cup-foundation-partner-team-expansion/" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"160869\">expanded its partner programme to 40 organisations<\/a> with the aim of attracting organisations from China, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and MENA.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf5eff59908\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>The Esports World Cup Foundation remains a topic of controversy from industry stakeholders due to its ties with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
