As a part of Malaysia&#8217;s sports development, the country&#8217;s athletes are expected to receive more in terms of support than before, which will likely translate to esports players as well.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf6750c1570\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>The country&#8217;s Department of Finance has allocated around \u00a33.5m to primarily help expand the country&#8217;s local esports scene, including the development of infrastructure, talent development, the grassroots ecosystem and support of esports careers. <\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf6750c1cde\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>The esports budget is also expected to relate to support for coaches, desk hosts and other staff in esports. In addition, a national esports centre is to be created in the future, allowing players and teams to organise bootcamps and events as well as access production facilities.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf6750c2442\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>Malaysia is an important player in SEA esports, with a notable number of teams and players in several popular games in the region, such as PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Free Fire. The country&#8217;s MLBB league, MPL Malaysia, had more than 630,000 peak viewers in its last season. The country was also the <a href=https://esportsinsider.com/"https:////esportsinsider.com//2023//03//pubg-global-series-1-2023/">host of the PUBG Global Series LAN in 2023<\/a> with this year&#8217;s PUBG Global Championship and M6 World Championship.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-67cf6750c2bc6\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n    \n<p>The decision was supported by the <a href=https://esportsinsider.com/"https:////x.com//ManOlimpik//status//1847250243286626560/">Malaysian Olympic Committee.<\/a><\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Axiata Arena in Malaysia, one of the host venues for the M6 World Championship.
